Session: 648 - Breaking the Academic Silence in LATAM : Communicating Environmental Assessment
Status: pending
This is a research about the university Students’ insights about communication and effective practices in EIA, comparing Latin America and Europe, proposing recommendations.
According to a study conducted in Australia by Morrison-Saunders, A., & Bailey, J. in the year 2000; they indicate that transparency in the decision-making process for environmental impact assessments, as well as flows and facilitators, involve effective processes for them.
A study conducted in 2022 in Brazil by the author Almeida, et al. concludes that in her country, the teaching of environmental assessment focuses on legal issues but not always on best practices, which are an important topic in the practice of Environmental Engineering. (Almeida, et al; 2022).
The proposed methodology for this research consists of a survey, which will be conducted among university students from Latin America and Europe enrolled in programs related to environmental sciences, to understand their perspectives on communication, transparency, and effective practices of students in environmental impact assessment, each from the reality of their own countries.
The results will be analyzed and compared according to each context, similarities and differences will be found, and recommendations will be proposed from the Academia.
