Abstract

LAMATA is a government agency in Lagos, Nigeria, saddled with developing urban transportation. In implementing projects, several developments have to be demolished, leading to displacement, and possible conflict. This paper presents an overview of LAMATA's experience in handling resettlement in Lagos, lessons learnt and developments for future projects, especially in terms of timely communication to affected persons
