Session: 592 - Streamlining IA in an era of global uncertainty

Status: pending

Summary Statement

Open science, regional databases, and cumulative effects assessment visualizations are discussed as ways to support and enhance IA streamlining efforts.

Abstract

IA streamlining is about finding process efficiencies and making good decisions in the public interest faster. These are good goals. At a time when climate, financial and biodiversity crises are deepening, IA science and practice must evolve to deliver benefits more quickly. Open science, regional databases, and cumulative effects assessment visualizations are just a few means by which to support and enhance IA streamlining efforts. Without these and other key shifts in how we do IA, streamlining risks eroding the benefits of IA.
