Session: 530 - Planetary Boundary Impacts and Mitigation/Regeneration SEA Guidance
Status: pending
This presentation addresses future-focused issues facing IA practitioners. Participants will be asked to comment on the direction of the Fit for Future Initiative.
This presentation will addresses future-focused issues facing the IAIA community: • What are the latest advances in efforts to provide tiered guidance on planetary boundary impacts and mitigation/regeneration plans from global levels down to national, regional and individual project designs? • How might these best be incorporated in guidance for preparation of SEA/SESA's and long-term cumulative impact analyses? • What role can IA practitioners play in assessing, addressing and communicating Planetary Boundary impacts and mitigation/regeneration plans for SEA future-smart guidance and planning at scale? • How do we overcome disinformation/misinformation in addressing Global Commons issues? • What role can SEA processes play in advancing planetary solvency assessment with financial institutions, the insurance and reinsurance industry, risk analysts and actuaries? • What new legal instruments are being developed or refined to ensure the health of the Global Commons and the incorporation of regenerative approaches to the management of Earth and Human Systems. Q & A will solicit participant contributions that address each of these question and encourage discussion of the direction of the Fit for Future Initiative as outlined in the Draft Earth & Human Systems (E&HS) Fit for Future Initiative Progress Report on Actions and Next Steps for the Period May – October 2025, with Appendices See https://hub.iaia.org/forum/979?ReturnUrl=%2fhome%2f%2fcallf Active members of the Fit for Future Group who are able to attend the session will provide iinformal updates on the actions they are leading.
