Poster Presentation on successful stakeholder engagement for Guyana's first Natural Gas Pipeline.
Guyana is the only English-speaking country on the continent of South America. In 2015, the country discovered offshore oil reservoirs. Eagar to manage its resources and capitalize on a new industry, the country partnered with ExxonMobil, and in 2019 first oil was extracted by the Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) Facilities. Optimizing available resources is an important part of the future of industries in this developing country. The monetization of natural gas is a potential asset for future development. Hence, the Gas to Energy (GtE) Project was initiated.
ExxonMobil Guyana Limited (EMGL), as operator of the Stabroek Block, has constructed and will operate the Gas to Energy (GtE) Pipeline. The offshore and onshore components of the pipeline will transport natural gas from the Liza Destiny and Liza Unity FPSO (floating, Production, Storage and Offloading) facilities to the Government of Guyana’s integrated plant site. The integrated plant site will include a power plant and natural gas liquids plant that is being constructed, and will be operated by the Government of Guyana.
EMGL’s onshore pipeline extends 25 kilometers from Nouvelle Flanders on the West Coast of Demerara to Reynstein on the West Bank of Demerara, Guyana. This is the first onshore gas pipeline in Guyana.
