Assessing the progress in developing SEAs and SDPs for 2050


Abstract

This paper will draw together the lessons learnt in the early stages of conducting two experimental SEAs in Kenya and Sierra Leone ( which are due to be reported on in the Session entitled SEAs and SDPs for 2050).
The main focus of the paper will be on 1) the role of social media in contacting the maximum number of stakeholders, and its successes and challenges and, 2, the effectiveness of efforts to carry out scenario building and the assessment of alternatives using machine learning and artificial intelligence.


Author Bio

Peter Nelson is the project lead for the SEAs for 2050 Initiative.
He is an environmental scientist and land use planner.
