Energy for Development Capacity Building Stipend (CBS) Program

The Energy for Development Capacity Building Stipend program supports IA professionals from Norway’s partner countries (Malawi, Mozambique, Nepal, Nigeria, Tanzania, and Uganda) in participating in IAIA’s annual conference and training activities. The program aims to strengthen capacity within the impact assessment community in partner countries, with a particular emphasis on practitioners working in energy and renewable energy sectors. By providing access to international training, technical sessions, and global networks, the program equips professionals with current tools and practices and enhances their ability to address national and regional IA challenges.

Recipients travel to IAIA26 to participate in conference sessions, specialized IAIA training courses, and networking activities. They are encouraged to share the knowledge gained with institutions, colleagues, and local networks to support long-term capacity strengthening in their home countries. Up to twenty-five stipends are available.

WHO WOULD QUALIFY FOR THIS STIPEND? 

To qualify, applicants must:

  • Reside and work in Malawi, Mozambique, Nepal, Nigeria, Tanzania, or Uganda.
  • Hold at least a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Have more than two years of professional experience in impact assessment, preferably related to energy or renewable energy.
  • Work in a government agency, university, or civil society organization
  • Have employer approval to attend in person.
  • Demonstrate how participation will support capacity building and practical application in their home country.

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Applicants must meet all the above-listed qualifications.
  • Applicants must submit a complete application form and CV by 13 January 2026
  • Recipients must have a valid passport and must obtain any necessary travel visas in a timely manner.
  • Recipients must meet all requirements set by the Canadian federal, provincial, and/or local government for entry (i.e., vaccination requirements, etc.).
  • Recipients must purchase travel insurance.
  • Recipients will be expected to attend IAIA26 in its entirety, remaining in Québec City, Canada from approximately 16-23 May 2026.
